100% CASHMERE

100% Cashmere

01

The fiber

Our cashmere comes from the finest farms in Inner Mongolia, in the Gobi Desert. The region is famous for this natural and noble fiber. The quality of cashmere is the combination of three parameters: the fineness of the fiber, its length, and its color (from brown to white).

We carefully select the best fibers: the finest (about 15 microns), the longest (36 to 40 mm), and the whitest. In the end, we get a truly soft cashmere, with vibrant, deep and stable colors.

Our cashmere is grade A, the best quality on the market. We also make sweaters made from 100% cashmere, which is quite rare on the market, due to its high price.

The yarn manufacture

The fiber is collected by combing Capra Hircus goats. In winter, during extreme temperatures, between -20 and -30°, these goats have a special hair that grows to keep them warm. It is from this hair that cashmere is created.

In spring, goats naturally lose their winter hair. This is when they are combed to collect cashmere wool.

The fibers are then cleaned and dyed to finally be transformed into cashmere yarn.

03

The knitting

In our opinion, there were two types of products on the market. Old brands, which make quality cashmere that lasts, but are so tight that the sweaters are often rigid and rough. And the large distributors, who offer products of very inferior quality, often light and where softness is not always there.

We wanted to offer modern sweaters: at the same time flexible, soft and comfortable, thanks to an adjustment of the knit which allows the fiber to best express all its finesse.

We play with gauges, tensions, counts and thread counts to offer different looks: more or less airy, thick, tight.

We also innovate with our patterns and artworks which require specific techniques (intarsia, jacquards, dip dye).

Light threads

Our Cashmere Light pieces are knitted in a unique way. It has 2 threads knitted in a planed way. This requires extremely meticulous work. The result: comfortable, airy, soft clothes, while remaining warm.

2 threads

2 threads corresponds to a standard thickness. The number of threads defines the thickness of the sweater: the higher it is, the thicker and warmer the sweater.

4 threads

4 threads corresponds to an intermediate thickness. The number of threads defines the thickness of the sweater: the higher it is, the thicker and warmer the sweater.

6 threads

6 threads corresponds to a thicker sweater. The number of threads defines the thickness of the sweater: the higher it is, the thicker and warmer the sweater.

8 threads

8 threads corresponds to a thick sweater. The number of threads defines the thickness of the sweater: the higher it is, the thicker and warmer the sweater.

10 threads

10 threads corresponds to a thick sweater. The number of threads defines the thickness of the sweater: the higher it is, the thicker and warmer the sweater.

Not really.

At FROM FUTURE, the number of threads varies from 2 to 10 threads.

A 6 thread sweater means that each stitch of the sweater is knitted with 6 cashmere threads.

A thicker sweater requires more raw material, which explains a higher price. However, if the starting fiber is of poor quality, the finished product will be too.

The number of threads therefore does not guarantee the quality of the sweater but defines its thickness.
